The description is dead on with this one. With the first steep, there are a lot of vegetables on the nose and palate. Very smooth mouthfeel. Second steep is less overwhelming on the vegetal notes and more pleasant all around. There are some fairly large stems I noticed in this one. That said, I believe I prefer this Qinxin a little bit over Old Master Dong Ding just due to the lack of roast on the Shanlinxi.
This is my first tea review. This tea is so tasty, I had to let it be known. I've drank dozens of other oolongs, all tasty, but this one is like BLAM! :)
I received a sample of this tea from another order, and I liked it so much I bought another 50g of it! I've tried several light oolongs from this site, but the Phoenix Valley Shanlinxi is still my favorite so far. It has a heavy floral nose, smooth mouthfeel without any bitterness, and a slightly sweet aftertaste. I can brew this about 4 times before losing its enjoyability.
This tea managed to surprise even my 11-year old (who is in that phase where he is nonchalant about everything ) when he took a sip. Soft, powdery floral aroma and taste. The fragrance wafted through my apartment and lasted for hours. Even the wet leaves looked beautiful! My only gripe is that it only lasted 2-3 steeps - is this the same for everyone else?
