Dragon's-Eye Charcoal Muzha Tieguanyin
Dragon's Eye Charcoal Muzha Tieguanyin
**The 2017 Vintage of this tea is finally sold out so we have restocked with the 2018 version. It is slightly nuttier and stronger than the 2017 version, but has the same gorgeous Muzha Tieguanyin flavor that has made this tea the favorite of so many for so many years!"
When we walked into this amazing garden nestled in the hills above Taipei City in 2018 we got asked the usual question. "What are you doing here?" When we answered that we were looking for agrochemical-free, dragon's-eye charcoal roasted, authentic Muzha Tieguanyin, the farmer laughed and said, "Well, you found the only one!" And we are glad we did. Certainly charcoal roasted, but not to the point of tasting like an ashtray like many Muzha teas, this tea is a beautiful version of the rich, dark tea that is the favorite of so many tea lovers. Complex notes of vanilla, white grapes and just a hint of smoke dazzle those who try this tea. A spring 2018 pick, this tea is just about right age wise and is really coming into its own. And it will only get better with a little aging.
While not a beginner's tea, this is the absolute best version of authentic Muzha Tieguanyin we have ever found. Those who are a fan of this genre will not be disappointed by this one!

It wasn’t long after I started being a serious tea drinker that I realized that oolong is my favorite category of tea. As time went on, I then realized that I prefer darker roast oolongs because they just feel comforting, are so forgiving when brewing and can give many infusions. Now I can say that this is Dragon’s Eye tieguanyin is my favorite tea. It is regal, mature, deep and takes time to understand but keeps you interested. The way I describe it to others is like a slightly smoky vanilla wine. It is my “spirit tea” … please never stop carrying it!
This tea is heavily roasted but maintains this lively sweet and sour fruit quality, almost like the muscatel notes in darjeeling. It keeps changing flavor with each steeping. Highly recommend.
Very tasty. I get aromas of roasted caramel nuts and sweetness. It is quite refreshing and delicious.
This tea has great intensity of flavour. The charcoal roast combines so well with fruit/floral notes and the resulting brew is a deep red colour. It's a tea I drink when I have time and space to really concentrate on it, as I think it needs to be carefully brewed. A real treat to experience this traditional style of muzha tgy.
This is just extraordinary. I have had a lot of tea, and this ranks as one of the very best. It has a smooth, sweet, leathery, indescribable flavour. Wonderful thickness and strength. Please get more in stock if you possibly can!!
