When we walked into the amazing shop/garden nestled in the hills above Taipei city we got asked the usual question. "What are you doing here?" When we answered that we were looking for agrochemical free, dragon's eye charcoal roasted, authentic Muzha Tieguanyin he laughed and said, "well you found the only one!" And we are glad we did. Certainly charcoal roasted, but not to the point of tasting like an ashtray, this tea is a beautiful version of the rich, dark tea that is the favorite of so many. Complex notes of light sweet smoke, dark chocolate and a touch of sour fruit meet those who want to try this tea. A winter 2017 pick, the 'fire' has been rounded with age as well.
Fair warning, Muzha Tieguanyin is an acquired taste, but those who have acquired it will most likely enjoy this tea a lot!
