 Sanxia White Tea

Hand-pinched from a heritage variety cultivar named Qin Xin Gan Zhong, this tea is rare, delicate and smooth. The cultivar's name has a character for a kind of fragrant orange included in it and that flavor is on full display in this tea. The first steeps are classic sweet and subtle white before opening up in later steeps to a flavor note somewhere around the meeting point of ginger and orange. Gentle, smooth and golden, this white tea is sure to become the favorite of many.

Produced at a partner farm only 20 minutes from downtown Taipei in one of the oldest tea growing areas of Taiwan, the tea is made in the traditional way by a tea master in his 80s. Each leaf is plucked by hand (no finger blades are even used!) and each batch of tea is tiny. This style of tea production is extremely rare and we are happy to support farmers still making tea in this old, delicate style.

Produced at the same garden as our Sanxia Black and Sanxia Green Teas. You can try them all together here.

A Perfect All-Rounder

Am a repeat-buyer of this tea - for me it's one of the best White Teas I've ever had. It is extremely versatile and forgiving with brewing - you can brew it light for a quick pick-me-up or brew it strong to bring out the earthy more "meditative" tones. It's refreshing on a hot day and comforting during cool weather. It's always a hit when I brew it for friends and family - including those who aren't even tea fans. Basically it's just magic - try it!

A Delicate, Delicious Flavor

I was pleased with this flavor of white tea. It develops interesting under notes the longer it steeps, yet never loses it's delicate flavor!

A very good first white tea!

This is the first white tea that I've tried, and I'm impressed! The initial few steeps with a gaiwan are light, sweet, and have a stone fruit flavor/aroma similar to nectarine or apricot. Later steeps have a darker flavor, which I agree has some orange and ginger going on, but there's also some spice and a bit of that stone fruit character still in the mix. Overall, quite tasty!
