After years of searching we have finally found some tea ware deserving space on the Mountain Stream Teas website. We couldn’t be happier!

Made from the clay on which the studio is built, only Master Zhuang uses this earth to make pottery. The clay material is meticulously prepared on site and is absolutely unique. The site was used in the past to make bricks in the Japanese era and has only recently begun to be used again. All works are unglazed and one of a kind.

In general, the electric fired pots ($99 + $25 Shipping) are redder and the wood fired posts($149 + $25 Shipping) can be a mix of earthy colors from light red, to granite blue and black. Electric fired pots are more flavor neutral and wood fired pots become tuned to the tea that you drink daily. More information in the video below!

Charming teapot

I bought one of the small electric-fired pots. It's a very nice design, the lid seals well, the clay retains heat, and the pour is nice. It is a fairly "rustic" pot compared to others in similar price range, which I like for my purposes. The only way it could be improved is with a slight redesign/repositioning of the ball filter. It is placed in such a way that it can be a little difficult to pour the last bit of water out of the pot, and leaves can also get trapped underneath.

Second Wood-Fired Teapot Exceeds Expectations

I now have two approx 250 ml wood-fired Hualien teapots. Both are nicely crafted, and the lids fit well. This rating applies to both pots. After the pots' arrival, I filled them with boiling water and allowed them to soak, draining the water daily, for a couple of weeks. No particular reason, other than it seemed like a good idea at the time. One pot is dedicated to oolong one and the other to white tea, and white tea cake, and old-growth Sheng. I have not been using the pots long enough to determine what affect their continued use might have on the teas to which they are dedicated, but I am pleased to say that both perform nicely, particularly in the case of a delicate oolong.

Functional, a bit rustic

The wood-fired teapot arrived in the United States in perfect condition and appears to be very well crafted. The lid fits well, and the pot itself is lovely to look at. I have filled it several times with very hot water and allowed it to sit, filled. I will repeat this exercise a few times before I dedicate it to oolong and will update this review after the pot has been in use for a while.
