Wintergreen White Ruby

The dominant flavors of the famous Ruby 18 Cultivar are red fruit, spices and a hint of wintergreen. This masterfully hybrid-processed tea flips the traditional flavors on their head! Smooth, minty wintergreen is the dominant flavor while the red fruit profile makes a subtle appearance in the background. For those that are a fan of the menthol aspects of the Ruby 18 Cultivar, this one is for you!

The processing of this tea will make white tea purist Tea-Nerds shake their heads. The tea is wilted, rolled, and then dried, creating a dark hybrid tea that has some oxidization, but no kill green phase. It is a gamble that paid off handsomely as this easy to brew minty Ruby 18 White is soft on the palate with out the usually astringent bite of this cultivar.

This tea is grown on an organic, multigenerational farm in the Mingjian area. The family tries hard to keep traditional practices of tea production alive while adding in modern technology and flavor profiles. We are very happy to continue to support gardens and families such as this one!

Ruby 18 Black’s sweet and mellow cousin

Pleasantly surprised by this one. I like Ruby 18 blacks as well, but this white (?) version is sweeter and mellower while still retaining that menthol aspect. It also reminds me a bit of licorice. I’d definitely buy it again if MST got their hands on more of it.
