Dragon's Eye (Longan) Flower

Herbal Tea

An absolute floral honey blast of flavor, this exceptional tisane is one of the rare brews that gives the 'wow' factor to even the most experienced tea drinker. Sweet, subtle but strong honey comb and the unmistakeable scent of Longan Flowers greet the owners of this one.

Made with the small flowers of the Dragon's Eye, or Longan, Fruit Tree, this was meticulously crafted by hand in Mingjian. We have a feeling that this Herbal Tea might become a little bit more famous and less rare in the years to come...

1g of this tea goes a long way. Whether using a gaiwan or grandpa style, the sweet honeyed broth will last a long time.

**Unless you are an expert Gaiwan user, this tea will need some kind of filter. The flowers are small. We had the option of buying tea bags but we just couldn't knowingly offer tea bags. We care about you too much. (Google 'tea bags micro plastics' for details) We also know that you are some of the smartest and best people on the planet so you will be able to figure it out :)

 Elevation: 400m

Status: Agrochemical Free

Gong Fu Style: 1g per 100ml, ~100C water, 30, 45, 60 then add 5-10 seconds steeps in gaiwan. Lasts many steeps.

As with most herbal teas, this one does well with experimentation. There is no 'correct' way to brew it. Just have fun!

Honey-sweet

Matt has described this as being like pixie dust, and I wholeheartedly agree. This is a beautiful tisane that brews up so sweet and tastes/smells like a sweet, fruity, photorealistic honey. The perfume or flavor is also quite similar to lychee fruits, which are related to longyan fruit, as far as I know. I have tried a honey from Mexico that was very fruity that tastes just like the Longyan flower brew does.

I wish I had watched Matt's livestream about brewing longyan flower earlier, as I accidentally overbrewed it the first time and ended up with a too-concentrated brew. But then I got the hang of it and was richly rewarded with the magical aroma of my remaining flowers.

Hopefully this will come back in stock next year. I would definitely like to try brewing a pinch together with another tea as Matt has suggested to add sweetness. And yes, it is expensive per gram, but it is worth trying even just once for the experience. I have not had a tea (or tisane) that is like this before, and I am sure it will delight many others.

Honey !

Such a delicious flavour ! It's like drinking some super floral honey 🥰 and it's super perfumed for some infusions.
