Competition Muzha Tieguanyin

From the same garden of our perennial favorite Dragon's Eye Charcoal Muzha Tieguanyin, this tea was entered into the 2023 Muzha Tieguanyin Tea Competition. While it didn't win, it is a great example of the classic taste of Muzha Tieguanyin that has 'fallen out of favor' for the judges of the Muzha competition. This means we get to try some at a more affordable price compared to other competition teas, which is OK with us!

Produced agrochemical free on a small garden just outside of downtown Taipei, this Tieguanyin is made from the Jinxuan cultivar and was thought to be the best production run of the 2023 spring season by our friends. Before being entered into the competition, the stems and yellow leaves where meticulously removed giving this brew a smoothness worthy of the judges. 

It is full of the taste and feel of roast caramel and nuts with a hint of the sweet-sour fruit that makes this style of tea so famous. And, the care taken in creating this batch of tea gives it a very pleasant and lingering aftertaste. It seems like a winner to us!

Recommend Brewing Style: 3-5g per 100ml, ~100C water, 30, 40, 50 seconds then add 10-30 seconds to steeps to taste. Lasts 5-6 steeps.

Western Style Brewing: 5g per 150ml, 100c water, 1-2 minute steeps
