1996 Muzha Tieguanyin
While visiting the same garden that produced our Dragon's Eye Charcoal Tieguanyin, we were given this gem of a tea to try and bought as much as we could. Taiwanese teas of this caliber made in the 20th century are getting harder and harder to find, so we are very happy to find and share such a rare beauty as this one.
This tea could be described as 'getting a coconut oil back massage in an old library' and we can roll with that. The 'must' of age quickly gives way to an incense-like smooth roast and coconut sweetness with a hint of red fruit in the background that makes this tea such a great example of a well aged Muzha Tieguanyin. It is a real gem, and one that we will be sad to see gone, but happy that we could share.
