Orange Blossom Luye Red

An experimental tea, we thought orange blossoms and our best selling Luye Red Oolong might be a good match. Turns out we thought right, especially for cold brews!

Made by taking the winter pick of Luye Red and roasting it gently at low temperature with fresh Orange Blossoms last March, the result is a dark, citrus-candy sweet, smooth floral red oolong, slightly earthier that the original unscented version.

We have been keeping this tea back for a couple months waiting for all the flavors to meld and it is ready to go now. What do you think, should we do it again next year?

The cold brew recommendation is correct!

This was absolutely lovely cold brewed. My initial taste gave me a nice honey note, and then the fruity notes came soon after. There's a soft floral aroma, of course, thanks to the orange blossom. When they say "candy sweet," they mean it. The citrus note is light, as well. Everything about this tea as a cold brew is summery, light, and airy. Perfect for those hot, humid days when you just want to escape the heat. The aftertastes lasts for some time, and it's a floral sort of flavor on the back of the tongue. It almost reminds me a bit of lychee.

A match made in heaven!

As it turns out, the only way you can make Luye Red even more beautiful and delicious is by adding Orange Blossoms to it! Honeyed orange coats your mouth and throat going down and is simply wonderful. A must try.
