Mr Weng's 2009 Roast Baozhong
One of those rare teas with a label that we acquired in our 2025 'Storage Wars' tea buy, this one seems to fit the unique description exactly:
2009 Spring 3/30 Mr Weng, Roasted Wen Shan Baozhong (Qing Xin)
The tasting notes match that information perfectly: rich, warm aged plums, dark leaf litter and smooth 'aged' notes are on full show with this beautiful and rare aged baozhong. In the series of aged teas that we took into the stable last year during this buy, Mr Weng's Roasted Baozhong is one of the best, especially if you are a fan of the Mei Zi Plum notes that roasted and aged Taiwanese oolongs can sometimes provide!
(We do not know of a Mr Weng in Pinglin that makes a nice roasted baozhong, but if you have heard of him please let me us know. He might want to try this one!)
**The authenticity of aged teas is always an issue as there are many bad actors in the space. This tea was purchased during our 'Storage Wars' tea buy and all evidence points to full authenticity of the label but we can never be 100% sure!
