Magnolia Orchid Shanlinxi Oolong

Powerfully scented with fresh Magnolia x alba flowers, this oolong is full of hints of Magnolia and Orchid blossoms with some fun Wild Ginger Flower spice in the aftertaste. Melded nicely with a thick Shanlinxi Milk Oolong base, it creates a unique and special brew for those that love floral scented teas.

Our friend's farm up on Shanlinxi has a few large White Champaca trees on the edges of their tea garden and they use those flowers to scent a limited batch of their spring milk oolong each year. If this proves to be a popular tea, we will certainly visit them this spring to help in the processing of this gorgeously scented tea!

**With many English names like White Champaca, White Jade Orchid, White Sandalwood and more, the flower that scents this tea is familiar to all Taiwanese. The flowers are often times found in bunches hanging from the rear view mirrors of taxis in Taipei and are one of the most familiar and sought after flowers of Taiwanese over the age of about 60 or so.

Nostalgic

The magnolia orchid scent is decadent and reminds me of my childhood summers visiting family in Thailand, and the garden my grandma kept at my family's house. The aroma is reminiscent of Thai "phuang malai" (floral garlands). Ordered 50g along with 50g of the Buttermilk Oolong (also amazing) as my first purchase from Mountain Stream. I'm so glad I did, and a bit sad that it's sold out! I don't know if it is possible to restock one day, but please consider it :) thank you! -Marisa, USA

Magnolias for ever

As a huge fan of milky oolongs and floral teas, I get really high from this tea. The smell is insane... I'm sniffing the teapot like an addict!
Spring 2024: Matthew, please do not forget to visit your Shanlinxi's friend ;-p

I know this is tea blasphemy but I ordered this, the gardenia, and the ginger oolong and blended them in a mason jar. Every time I crack the lid I'm met with a symphony of aromas. Not to mention how well they blend when the hot water hits the gaiwan. I regret nothing. This company blows many others out of the water hands down.
