When asked about why he was producing a traditional Chinese tea in Taiwan, the farmer of this tea simply said "I want to surprise people with something familiar done in a different way". He was too humble to say 'better', but we think it might be. Using the Chinese Wuyi cultivar and making a roasted oolong the Taiwanese way, this tea can be described as nothing other than a Taiwanese Rock Oolong. It is softly roasted with a clear mid mouth finishing up with an amazingly long, lingering, ripe peach aftertaste. A freshly roasted tea, this one will only get better with age. It has a sister tea that will be released after the 'fire' has died down a bit in about 6 months. If you like Rock Oolongs this is one to try. The first ever roasted tea that passed the taste test to get onto this site!

Recommend Brewing Style:

Gong Fu Style: 3-5g per 100ml, ~90C water, 30, 45, 60 then add 5-10 seconds steeps in gaiwan. Lasts 5+ steeps.

Western Style: 3g per 100ml, ~100c water for 3 minutes. Lasts 2+ steeps.

Exceptional!!

I can attest that if you like Chinese rock oolongs and are a fan of Taiwanese oolongs then you are going to LOVE this tea! It is the distinct flavor profile of a Wuyi cultivar rock oolong from China but with the added bonus of the exceptional sweet notes found in exceptional Taiwanese oolongs!
