One of the rarest of teas in Taiwan, Snow Picked( or Dong Pian in Mandarin) teas are harvested just after the first frost of the winter hits the higher elevation tea leaves. There is a sweet vegetal floral lightness that comes out of Snow Picked Oolongs that you can get nowhere else. We like to describe it as 'a cabbage flower' note, but we are sure there are other, better ways to describe it! The fact remains that snow picked teas are in a class of their own, soft, sweet, floral totally unique from all other seasons of high mountain oolong!
This extremely affordable snow picked tea was picked in mid December at our Alishan partner farm and produced in a very small amount. While this garden uses conventional farming practices, it is not by choice. Surrounded on all side by conventional tea gardens this farmer does not have much chance of ever getting this garden certified organic. He limits the use of agrochemicals in this garden drastically, however, and has gardens in other areas that are fully regenerative.
