If you have ever smelled Osmanthus flowers, then you know what this tea is all about. Fragrant white florals, peach notes, and a creamy sweet aftertaste greet those who are lucky enough to get their hands on this tea. And as you can see in the pictures, this is a pretty flower-heavy tea. The flowers were grown in Pinglin, which is known for its high-quality Osmanthus and the tea chosen for this blend is a spring-picked Hualien-grown milk oolong. The oolong was chosen as it lets the Osmanthus flowers gently overpower it without pushing back and as you progress through the steeps the tea gradually takes over and you are left with a nice, smooth, floral oolong in the later brews.
This tea is produced in the same way as our Pomelo Fragrance Oolong and other scented teas, with the mostly finished tea mixed with the fresh flowers and gently roasted together for hours and hours at low temperature. This batch was an experiment (a successful one!) and we were able to buy it all, but the amount is limited. We will be hoping to get more when it is made next year!
