Organic Shanlinxi Oolong

Shanlinxi is one of the hardest places in Taiwan for an agrochemical-free tea lover to find something to drink. It is perhaps the most sought after growing area for the local Taiwanese market so any tea grown there gets sold no matter what. Farmers usually try to super size their yields using copious amounts of agrochemicals and we have been searching for a clean and affordable source of Shanlinxi tea for years.

After a long wait, we finally have a Shanlinxi Oolong on the site, and it is even certified organic at that! The thick mouthfeel and 'oceanic' nature of teas from this terroir are on full display with this one. Fresh, upfront smooth vegetal moves to a thick and wide expansive and luxurious mouthfeel before ending with that gorgeous mix of floral and sweet sour fruit that Shanlinxi teas are so famous for.

We lucked out in finding this producer at the 2020 Tea Expo and we look forward to growing our relationship with this new partner farm. Finding organic Shanlinxi tea at this quality and price point is almost unheard of! We are so happy to finally have some of the tea from this area back on the site.

Finally, another Shanlinxi!

I liked the Shanlinxi that MST carried in 2018, and have been hoping for another tea from that region since. It was well worth the wait. This 2020 one is sweet, only slightly vegetal (a plus in my book), smooth and expansive. The wet leaf has a delicious intense fragrance of - peach candy? The later steeps bring something like almond flower, and develop a bit more astringency. Overall, a tea that makes me think of spring and lightheartedness.
