With dominant dark chocolate and red fruit notes and a touch of warm earth, it is noticeably rounder and smoother that its older cousin, the 1995 Muzha. One of the best aged dark teas we have found in a long while, we suspect that this might become the favorite tea of more than a few fans of aged teas and the Muzha terroir.

Placed for 25 years in the backroom of the same multi generational organic garden in the heart of the Muzha foothills as our 1995 Muzha, Bug Bitten Muzha and other teas, this storage could be considered rather 'intense'. The large temperature differential between seasons and the high humidity of the Muzha region have brought out a more earthy and rich flavor than some of the more 'dry' stored teas we have gotten from this area in the past.

We recommend a good rinse when starting to brew this 25 year old tea, and try to see if you get an interesting body feel. To us, it is warming and relaxing, perfect for a contemplative moment. We find it works very well with a good strong clay pot as well.

Elevation: 300-500m

Status: Certified Organic

Cultivar: Tieguanyin

Season: Spring 2001

Method: Hand picked, processed on site, very small batch

Oxidation: 60%, Medium-Heavy Electric Roast

Region: Muzha, New Taipei City

Recommend Brewing Style: 3-5g per 100ml, ~100C water, 30, 40, 50 seconds then add 10-30 seconds to steeps to taste.
