1994 Pinglin Baozhong

Baozhong teas are rarely aged, which makes a tea like this one extremely special. The fact that the quality of this one is so high, makes it doubly so! Florals, dark fruit and the hint of sweet grass seem to waft in and out of the more familiar 'Aged Oolong' type of esoteric flavors of book cases and age. Each steep is fascinating mix of these flavors. And each steep is different. Made with the rare Foshou cultivar, this one is really something special.

We will be keeping some of this tea behind to drink together with our friends in Pinglin this spring. Aged teas like this one are rare, and it is one of the many joys of the tea world to share amazing teas with those that can appreciate them.

NOTE: This tea is almost completely gone forever. We only have about 400g left and our supplier has a limited amount left that they are not interested in selling. Once these last leaves are gone, this tea will be left only in the memories of those that have tried it.

**The authenticity of aged teas is always an issue as there are many bad actors in the space. This tea was purchased from the same place as many of our aged teas, a famous and very respectable company that specializes in Puer and other aged Oolongs. Given the the source and our own experiences in tasting over 100 aged Oolongs over the years, this tea is as authentic as it gets.

Plum wine

This tea has the aroma of aged plums, cherries, and something floral. The aging brings an effect of watching a vintage reel where a faded image of a springtime meadow plays. It also reminds me of vintage-style perfumes with the combination of dried fruits, florals, and something chalky or powdery that is so unique and tasty. This is a fascinating tea, and I am glad to have had the opportunity to try it.
