A gem found on a recent sourcing trip to the Sun Moon Lake area, the tasting notes of this tea are unique and beautiful. This organically grown and charcoal-roasted Ruby 18 Black Tea has been aging in a clay jar since 2012. (See picture above) As a younger cultivar, Ruby 18 tea aged this long is extremely rare. Charcoal roasted Ruby 18 Black Tea aged this long is even more rare. In our mind, this gamble on the part of our new friend in this region has paid off well!
The tea starts off with the strong flavors of roast and age before drifting into a flavor that can most accurately be described as a well-aged, high-quality red wine. Dark, deep and fruitful. The strength of the Ruby 18 cultivar has been diminished slightly with age, but there is still a hint of the signature mint in the dark and lingering aftertaste.
~This tea is limited in quantity at the moment but we will get more in if the demand is high~
