Wild Peach Wuyi Oolong

The Taiwanese Wuyi Cultivar is having a bit of a renaissance here in Taiwan recently and for good reason. It is versatile, delicious, and when produced by master hands it has some the best 'aftertaste' of any cultivar in Taiwan.

Case in point, this tea we recently found made by our friends in Ilan, a low-mid oxidized Wuyi Cultivar oolong with quite the taste experience. The beginning upfront of the tea is a pleasant, if unmemorable, greenish oolong vegetal but it transforms in the mid-mouth to a rich and powerful not-quite-ripe wild peach aftertaste that pleasantly lingers on the palate for quite a while. This peach note is a feature of lower oxidized Wuyi Oolongs, but it takes skilled hands to bring it out as much as in this tea!

This great tasting tea and our Buttermilk Oolong are some of the best value teas on the site right now for one main reason. The Ilan area is not 'famous' so the 'terroir premium' is at a minimum. We know for a fact that many resellers buy tea in this area and sell it at a premium in 'Alishan' or 'Shanlinxi' labelled bags. Lying is not our style, so we are happy to be able to offer this tea at its authentic, great value price!

**There are no artificial flavors or scents added to any of our teas. All flavors in this tea are produced by the skilled processing of 100% tea leaves.
